Tourist Attractions

Archaeological sites
The history of Ras Al Khaimah is rich with events dating back to ancient times and old civilizations. The mountainous excavations have revealed ruins of old settlements and graveyards dating back to the 3rd millennium.

National RAK Museum
The RAK National Museum is in the heart of the city, opening up a rich tapestry of this Emirate’s past.

It was created in 1987 and established in the Al Husen Fort, the residence of the Sheikh of Ras Al Khaimah way back in the early 19th century.

The museum is divided into many sections. One of the most interesting sections is the Al Qawasim Room which is situated upstairs. It contains historical manuscripts and documents as well as the arms that belonged to the ruling family. It also displays the treaties signed by the ruling family and the British government. The other main section is the one set aside for antiques discovered from all over the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Many of these monuments and antiques date back to the 5th Millennium BC and some belong to the early Islamic Era.

Parks and Gardens
Saqr Public Park in Sohaila suburb stretches over vast green areas. The park harbors a variety of family and kids entertainment activities and electronic games.

Kozam Park is located in Khozam region. It is smaller in area, compared to Saqr Park. It contains electronic games, children attractive games, and entertainment facilities.

Khatt Springs
Located to the west of Ras Al Khaimah’s majestic mountain ranges, this oasis is famed for its hot springs of sulphuric water having relaxing and therapeutic properties.

The Khatt Springs consists of three natural springs about 40 degree centigrade hot and widely considered to have medicinal and curative properties. Framed by lofty mountains and encircled by palm trees, which add to the beauty and charm of the place, The Khatt Springs have become a lovely tourist attraction in the whole of UAE.

The area was already popular in the past as reflected in the presence of large number of archaeological sites of all periods. Almost 170 sites, ranging from stone tools to nineteenth century mud brick fortification towers, were discovered during a survey conducted in 1992.

Sports Facilities
For ski enthusiasts, the RAK Water Skiing Club is the perfect place. Situated in the area of Khuzam, the club provides all necessary equipment for practicing the pleasant sport of skiing. The Emirates Center for Diving and Water Sports offers the charm of scuba diving in the Arabian Gulf. The RAK Shooting Club, a 20 minutes drive from the RAK Airport has a vast rifle field to test shooting skills.

RAK also has one of the UAE's best camel tracks in the Al Sawan area. A ten-kilometer track, it is equipped with a modern round platform situated at the end of the racetrack. Races are run from the middle of September to the end of April every year. Golfing being another added attraction for tourists; the Tower Links 18-hole Golf course provides challenges for all standards of play.

Desert Snow Village
A multi-billion dollar Desert Snow Village will be a new project in Ras Al Khaimah targeting up to 15 million visitors annually, according to the project developer.

The project was conceived and designed to provide various tourism and related activities under one roof and generate revenues through tourism and commercial activities. The village, which is expected to be an entirely self-sufficient town, will accommodate 350,000 permanent residents in addition to 150,000 daily visitors, who may ultimately reach 10 million to 15 million per year.

The Desert Snow Village also aims to be self-sufficient, offering residents all the public services and amenities of a regular city, as well as the services of private companies that come to set up within the complex. The project will provide various types of sports, leisure, entertainment and cultural activities, with its main attraction being a simulation of the North and South Pole atmospheres with ice related sports.

The project will also include other activities such as water sports, a monorail, a cable car ride, a roller coaster and electronic games. An underwater hotel as well as 24 themed hotels, such as a sport hotel, film production hotel, a kids hotel and a women's hotel are part of the many features of the Desert Snow Village, which will be covered by a dome structure, with a 20-room ice hotel as well as apartment blocks that have access to the monorail system.
